Let me clarify.
I listen to KISS-FM when I drive.
Yes. It’s true.
I may be in my thirties, but a teeny-bop still lives somewhere inside of me.
Once upon a time, I actually interviewed a Los Angeles D.J. for KISS-FM for a feature article during my career days as an entertainment news writer. I won’t drop names, but he was big, like #1. Even went down to the station to sit in on a Live Air session. The day before I was there he interviewed Justin Timberlake, bummed I missed that, but still—super cool!
Anyway, I’ve been listening to KISS-FM since I was like in junior-high. I admit I don’t prefer some of the songs on there, and often switch to the other more age-appropriate easy-listening stations. But, my inner teeny-bop just has fun with a certain song every once in a while, and although I usually have no clue who artist is, I still enjoy.
That’s how it is with this one song I heard on the radio this afternoon. I’ve heard it many times before while driving in the car, and every time I do, I pump up the volume. I had to do some iTunes searching around to find out who sings it. I kept my fingers crossed that it wasn’t Justin Beeber, or however you spell his name….that would have been way too embarrassing.
It’s called “Just the Way You Are,” and it’s not the one by Billy Joel—that would have been on one of the OTHER stations. It’s by Bruno Mars. And I know right now some of you are like, “Yea, totally, I know that song!”, my fellow inner teeny-boppers. (You know who you are).
So this is for you. Embrace who you are right now because you are amazing. I know we are all striving to change, improve, learn, grow…be a Sassy-Classy. But, that doesn’t mean that we aren’t amazing right at this very moment.
YOU ARE! I AM! WE ARE!
That’s why I love this song. We have people around us who think this about us everyday—who love us for just the way we are. And, we need to love ourselves for that too!
So listen and give yourself a mental hug :)
