So I wore a birthday dress.
Which is better than my birthday suit. And more decent.
I love this dress because just wearing it is like a party! Maybe it’s the peekaboo tulle. I had no ‘official’ party planned, but at our house and with my husband anything is a party!
We were walking through the parking lot—me carrying our two year old, my husband holding hands with our two older boys—on our way into Central Market for dinner at the outdoor café and play area, my husband said…
“It’s a princess party boys! We have our princess—“
and my six year old chimed in, “Yep! and we are her protecting knights.”
It was a perfect Princess Party at Central Market. There was even a band singing Beatles songs. Plus my prince charming of a husband “went to go check to see if our food was ready” and came back with a bouquet of pink tulips.
Today, a decade ago, I was turning a quarter of a century old and I woke up in my bed alone wondering what the next year had in store for me. That year, I chopped two feet of my hair off (a grown up haircut), became a published writer, and met my forever prince charming.
Now, today, I woke up to four boys in my bed giving me kisses and wishing me Happy Birthday! The best.
It’s hard getting older but it’s wonderful what I get along the way :)
