Ultimate So-Cal Vacation

We took a vacation to home. And by that I mean our home state—beautiful Southern California. My husband was the travel agent for this trip. He planned the ultimate kids (and big kids like mommy & daddy) vacation of the SoCal highlights.

We started off in San Diego to fulfill one of my husband’s lifetime dreams to take his boys to a Padres game at Petco Park Stadium. Highlight of the night: hearing our three year old yell out, “Let’s. Go. Padres.” We also played on the beach of Coronado Island, toured a Navy battleship, ate yummy Mexican food, and visited the Mormon Battalion Museum. I’ve concluded that if we ever have to travel again by wagon in some strange post-apocalyptic world, my boys will be thoroughly entertained.

When you have three boys who are obsessed with Legos (which you already know if you are usual readers of this blog), you absolutely have to visit LEGOLAND on your “All things fun in the sun So Cal” vacation! Any amusement park that is completely shaded by palm trees, has a view of the ocean on top of it’s biggest roller coaster, and that you don’t break a sweat at the entire day, is worth it. I highly recommend for the under 12 age and ideal for the three to five age.

Then there was Disneyland--For. Three. Days. It was fantastic! Day one: hit as much as you can, but don’t stress about it. Day Two: hit what you missed the day before, and your favorites again. Day three: ride your favorites for the third (sometimes fourth) time, stroll through Main Street, then spend the remainder in California Adventure. I don’t know if I’ll be able to be a one day-er again. So spoiled now, I know.

Now this is why we love Cali. One day at Disneyland, the next at the beach. We cruised up Pacific Highway and got some good beach therapy. Toes in the sand, crashing waves, salty air. We love it!

The thought of leaving California made us really grumpy, and a tear may have been shed, but then there is always the next time to look forward to :)

"Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity. "
