Four Cult Classics {beauty}

Something I read on realsimple.com: “18 Cult-Classics Cult Beauty Products”.

The article is about beauty products the pros stick to through the years.

I am always so interested to see the choices in articles like this. I assume all the products would be these ridiculously priced products that only the stars can afford, and although some of them are, there are also drugstore items for us normal folks.

Here are some of the items I want to give a try.

Coty airspun setting powder

Coty Airspun Powder

This finely milled setting powder, which has been making movie stars’ complexions flawless since 1935, is “perfect for shine-proofing the T-zone,” says celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow.
To buy: $7, walgreens.com.

I’ve seen this powder in the drugstore forever, and thought it looks like something my Grandma would have on her counter (actually I think she does), but now I’m curious to give it a chance.

Nars powder blush

Nars Blush in Orgasm

This shimmery powder gives all complexions a just-right, healthy glow. And the name alone makes us blush.
To buy: $27, narscosmetics.com.

Come on, with that title, who could resist? I was just saying to my husband…actually I’ll just stop there ;)

Essie nail polish

Essie Nail Polish in Mademoiselle

To work. To the grocery store. To your wedding. You can wear this flattering no-color color anywhere.
To buy: $8, drugstore.com.

Anyone watch “Everyday Italian”? How Giada keeps that waist and eat pasta and chocolate all the time is a mystery. But, she ALWAYS has a nail color like this on her nails, and that is at least something I could copy.

Opi nail laquer

OPI Nail Lacquer in Lincoln Park After Dark

Inspired by richly colored dresses seen in Chicago in 2005, it made deep grape wearable on fingers.
To buy: $6, amazon.com.

Growing up all the other six-year-old girls’ favorite color was purple. I couldn’t stand that color. Mine was green. Still is. But, I am now embracing purple. I’ve learned that it is actually a flattering color for me—go figure. Plus it seems to be the latest “it” color.

I love this post! I love make-up and good priced make-up at that. And I love the nail polishes.

We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity. "
