Rylan and I are part of an "At-home Preschool" program. He is one of the five students and I am one of the five mom teachers. Each week the "class", which happens to be all boys, attend preschool at one of the boy's homes and their mom teaches. The friend that organized this supplied a fantastic format and outline for us to follow. This is the second week of preschool so they learned about the letter "B" and the number "2".
We start off with circle time (sing songs, discuss the weather & date, and do show & tell)
Then we have table time (color worksheets, do crafts)
Then we have lunch (their favorite part)
Then we have storytime (today we read TWO books about "Sharing with Others")
Then we clean up and playtime (which today was basically whacking balls with bats in the backyard)
To keep these young minds (and short attention spans) busy. I planned a couple of craftlike projects. First they colored and glued together a letter "B" stick puppet. Then they went outside to trace a super Big "B" and color it with chalk. Then we came back inside and created Bean art by gluing various beans on construction paper (very messy).
Lunch was the highlight of the 3 hour school session. It goes from 9:00 to 12:00. By 10:30 they are ready to eat. But, I was able to stall them until 11:00. After lunch, we gathered around on pillows for storytime. Then the last 15 minutes and until their moms came to pick them up, I let them play with our never ending collection of balls....boys are easy like that :)
